Brief Description: Range marks on airspeed indicator
My airspeed indicator was marked for a Cessna 170A. I removed the glass and painted out the 160 mph redline. I extended the white, green and yellow range marks according to the values posted on the Onex site. Added a redline at about 208 mph although the VNE value is actually 216 mph. The needle on the indicator won't go to 216. I figure a little conservative is ok. The low end of the ranges may need to be modified once real numbers are obtained for this particular aircraft.
Had to modify the radio mounting panel because the antenna connector still touched the fuel tank. I move things to the right about 1/2". Clearance looks ok now. When touching up the paint, the respray started to wrinkle in some scratched areas that I had sanded. Cleaned the panel to bare metal using Klean-Strip Aviation brand Remover. Primed with Rust-Oleum 213209 Lt Gray Auto Primer and top-coated with Krylon 51608 Smoke Gray enamel. No adverse reactions with the primer.
I haven't been logging the rework time figuring if someone wants to know how long it took to build the Onex, it should be the time spent doing it right the first time.
